Application for certification of the Queensland Rail Access Regime (Application)
On 18 January 2021, the Council received an application under section 44NA of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 from the Premier of Queensland, the Hon Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, for certification of the Queensland Rail access regime.
Certification is sought for rail services provided by Queensland’s rail networks. The Queensland Rail access regime was previously certified on 19 January 2011 as an effective access regime for a period of ten years. The applicant requests that the Council recommend to the Commonwealth Minister that the regime be certified for a further period of twenty years.
A copy of the application is available below.
The Council invited interested parties to make written submissions on the application by Friday 19 February 2021. Submissions have now closed.
After considering submissions on the application, the Council will release a draft recommendation and provide a further opportunity for public comment before making its final recommendation to the Commonwealth Minister.
